Chevrolet Launch Cruze Hatch which is for sale at £13,995

Chevrolet Cruze Hatchback

The hatchback version of the compact Chevrolet Cruze is about to go on sale in the UK priced from £13,995.

Sharing the same GM Delta II platform that underpins the new Astra and Zafira, as well as the Vauxhall Ampera and Chevy Volt EVs, the Cruze hatch was developed alongside the saloon and is built in South Korea by what we used to know as Daewoo.  This car replaces the Lacetti, a model which Chevrolet inherited from Daewoo when GM bought the now defunct Korean car maker.

The hatch carries the same engines as the saloon, with the range starting with a four cylinder 1.6 litre petrol pushing out 124PS, good for 0-62mph in 10.9 seconds on the way to a 118mph maximum.  Fuel consumption is 43.4mpg and CO2 emissions are 153g/km.  A 1.8 litre petrol achieves 141PS, reducing the 0-62mph dash to 10.2 seconds and upping the top speed to 124mph.  Fuel consumption is 42.8mpg and CO2 levels are 155g/km in the manual (all are worse in the 1.6 automatic; there is also a 1.4 automatic).  A diesel tops the range, with a 163bhp 2.0 litre, covering 0-62mph in 8.5 seconds on the way to 127mph.  Fuel consumption is 50.4mpg with CO2 emissions of 127g/km (for the manual).

The Chevrolet Cruze currently holds the British Touring Car Championship  and the World Touring Car Championship titles.
