Alfa Romeo has announced the launch of a greener version of its Mito supermini by revealing an ‘art car’ wrapped by renowned artist Louise Dear.
The Italian marque enlisted the help of Castle Galleries to make a splash with the new model. Using a complex method of layered paint onto aluminium, artist Ms Dear modelled the art, entitled ‘Because I Can’, on her 17 year old daughter and also attempted to reflect Alfa’s heritage within the work.
Underneath is a green-minded Mito with a revised diesel engine, tuned for economy and low emissions. The Alfa Romeo Mito 1.3 JTDM-2 Sprint, as it is known, has 85bhp and emits just 95g/km of CO2 – Alfa’s lowest figure yet and enough to place the sporty Mito amongst the greenest of the superminis. The 0-62mph dash takes 12.9 seconds and top speed is 108mph. Fuel consumption is an impressive 78.5mpg. The car is available now with a price of £14,450 on the road.
The artwork was revealed in an exclusive evening at Artica Galleries, Covent Garden on 14 July and the thus adorned Mito will now head to other Castle Galleries locations – Birmingham’s Mailbox on 28 July, Norwich Chapelfield on 4 August and Cardiff Bay on the 11 August.
