We may all love the summer but car companies don’t. We’d all rather be on beaches than slogging round car showrooms. Combine that with a fear we could all lose our jobs at any moment and it means new car sales are expected to be slow.
So the car makers are trying to spur on interest with some deals. And two budget brands are first out of the blocks.
Chevrolet is offering savings of up to £2,000 across its range. The Chevrolet Spark supermini is now available for just £6,995 in 1.0+ guise, £1,700 off previous. The Chevrolet Orlando seven seat MPV is now on offer from £14,995 for the LS – a saving of £1,415 from list.
The Chevrolet Captiva SUV is where the big savings are though, with that range now starting at £25,695 for the 2.2 LT.
All Chevrolet’s come with a five year warranty.
Not to be outdone, Kia is also offering big savings linked to its favourite number: 7. Seven denotes the length in years of the warranty it offers across its whole range and the Korean car maker is reducing VAT down to seven per cent across selected models in the Kia Cee’d range – that means a 13 per cent price reduction in real terms.
So the Kia Pro Cee’d three door compact family car (it’s Ford Focus or Volkswagen Golf sized if you don’t know the Kia range) now starts from £11,938 for the 1.4 ’1′, while the 1.4 ’1′ SW (estate) can be had from £12,116.
Additionally, Kia is offering a ‘scrapage’ type deal that means drivers with a seven to ten year old car that has less than 100,000 miles on the clock and a valid MOT can trade in their vehicle and get £2,000 off a brand new Kia Venga or (soon to be replaced) Kia Rio.
Kia’s brand new entry level the Kia Picanto supermini isn’t seeing such generous deals, but there is still a £500 loyalty discount on offer to owners of the old model who want to trade up to the new Kia Picanto, launched last month.
All the above offers from both manufacturers last until 30 September 2011.
