Audi has modernised the A4 series; including the A4 Saloon, the A4 Avant, the A4 Allroad Quattro and the S4.

The A4, which has been Audi’s leading model for an impressive 39 years, is now in its 8th edition. It has sold an amazing ten million models and its new, improved design is reflected by the Saloon, Avant, the Allroad Quattro and the S4.

The new A4 sets new standards, with consumption levels dropping by 11 percent on average. In the UK, Audi will offer a choice of five diesel and four petrol engines for both the Saloon and the Avant. The TDI engines are equipped with four-cylinder versions and present extensive modifications.

A six-speed manual transmission is standard on the Saloon and Avant models with front-wheel drive; most variants offer continuously variable multitronic as an option. The quattro versions have either the manual transmission or the seven-speed S tronic on board. The A4 allroad quattro has a manual transmission or S tronic with all engine versions. Electromechanical power steering is available as standard.

The Audi S4, available in the Saloon and Avant versions, has the most powerful engines. The Saloon can achieve 35.3mpg despite impressive acceleration of 0 to 62mph in 5.0 seconds and a maximum speed of 155 mph.

The modified Audi S4 features updated headlights, bumpers, air inlets and colours. The interior also contains subtle changes. Other options include adaptive cruise control or the cruise control system, the sport differential, the suspension with damper control and dynamic steering. All front-wheel-drive versions of the A4 feature the Electronic Stability Program (ESP). Wheels start from 16 inches.

The new-look design includes new steering wheels with chrome and high-gloss inlays, and a leather sport steering wheel. Headlights have also changed, with a wave at the bottom edges, and there is a new interior. Xenon plus headlights are available as optional equipment or standard on S line models. Tail lights reflect the shape of the headlights and have homogeneous strips of LEDs. The bumper has also been re-designed, with the exhaust system featuring two tailpipes.

Comfort and superior safety are the end result of the A4’s modernisation. Prices will be confirmed over the next few weeks.
