Traditionally, if you’re looking for car lease deals or purchase options on a car that oozes old-school grandeur, a Bentley would generally be close to the top of your wish-list. It’s fair to say though, for a long time Bentley wasn’t necessarily where you’d look if you were looking for something in the sporty supercar class. The words ‘Bentley’ and ‘sporting’ might not be synonymous, but then along came the Bentley Continental GT.
The beauty of this car is that it gives you the sheer performance and power you get with the likes of the Porsche Panamera and the Aston Martin Virage but with unparalleled comfort. All of this comes at a premium of course – and you’re looking for far more than a formidable reputation when you sign up for car leasing deals on vehicles in this class. There are in fact three very good reasons why you should consider investing in a Bentley Continental GT: it’s wonderful design, a superb driving experience and the very best in comfort. Take a closer look and see what you think…
It’s the type of car that many motorists decide to look at car leasing deals on as soon as they lay eyes on it. The Bentley Continental GT is certainly a work of art in terms of appearance – something that’s best experienced in the flesh. The secret to its success is down to the fact that this model takes the image and heritage of the Bentley mark and brings it up to date in a way that works perfectly. On the front, that iconic radiator grille has been tweaked ever so slightly whereas the distinctive 4-lamp headlight setup has been brought up to date with the addition of LED running lamps. This car is slightly wider at both the front and the rear compared to the earlier model and the floating LED lights at the rear help to highlight its solidity. Those distinctive wheel arches, of course, dominate the flanks.
A superb driving experience
There are two engines on offer: a V8 in addition to a 6-litre W12. It’s this latter option that’s probably going to provoke the most interest for motorists looking at car lease deals on the Bentley Continental GT. Based on a Volkswagen design, this engine utilises two turbochargers to produce an amazing 575 PS.
Everything combines nicely to offer you the perfect ride in even the wettest of conditions. For one thing, you get 4-wheel drive which combines seamlessly with an ESP stability control system.
Needless to say, this car really comes into its own when being put through its paces on the open road. A lot of work has been put into maximising this vehicles capabilities – including the addition of venture tunnel under the car and cooling ducts in the engine bay to ensure optimum aerodynamics. It certainly seems to have paid off: expect to be able to get from rest to 60 mph in less than 5 seconds with the ability to exceed 190 mph. Switching gears couldn’t be easier either: you have the choice of using the handy paddles on the steering wheel to operate the 6-speed automatic transmission or you can choose to drive your Bentley as a conventional automatic.
The downside of a car like this is of course that you tend to find yourself topping up on fuel relatively often: expect to achieve something in the region of 17 mpg on the combined cycle. In this car’s favour on the fuel consumption front however, is the FlexFuel feature. This gives you the option of running the car on either standard unleaded petrol or else bioethanol – or even a combination of the two.
The very best in comfort
You can’t fault Bentley’s attention to detail with the Bentley Continental GT. For instance, the measurements of basketball players were taken to ensure that even the tallest of passengers would have ample room in the back. The 2014 Bentley Continental GT is designed to carry four people in absolute comfort. The incredible suspension and sound proofing is such that all occupants get to enjoy the smoothest ride possible – no matter what happens to be going on outside.
There is also the sheer quality of the interior to consider. The driver gets to play around with full touchscreen display whereas all occupants get to marvel at the opulence of all that leather and finely crafted wooden veneer.
The final word
Handsome in a traditional way and yet completely up to date: if you’re looking for a vehicle that effortlessly combines performance and luxury, the Bentley Continental GT most definitely sits at the top of the tree.
