Fiat 500L MPW Estate Review

In this particular case, the Fiat 500L MPW stands for multipurpose wagon. Essentially, it’s a bigger version of the Fiat 500L MPV, comes with seven seats, a bigger boot, copious amounts of accessories and two different specs – Pop Star and Lounge. Let’s take a closer look at what this hefty vehicle offers with our 500L MPW review.

Comfortably Safe Ride

[vc_single_image image=”46043″ img_size=”article-image”]The Fiat 500L MPW is targeted at families who need a multipurpose wagon in their lives, and for this reason it’d be hard to see why anyone would want to pick up the 1.3-litre Multijet unit variant of this car. It simply lacks the kind of power and strength to pull this audacious vehicle packed with family and friends along. Moreover, the timid 1.3-litre Multijet is just unbearably slow.

With this in mind, pick of the engines is the 1.6-litre Multijet diesel, which will invariably be popular with consumers. Faster than the 90cc TwinAir petrol, it offers a smooth yet powerful ride. Its Panda and Punto engines do veer a little on the safe side in comparison with, say, a Ford Grand C-MAX, but we need to remind ourselves that the new Fiat 500L MPW is a multipurpose wagon – and safety is pretty much what buyers will be after. Moreover, it’s also compact for a seven seater which adds to the enjoyable ride as you grapple with Britain’s tightly packed urban sprawls.

Extra Length

[vc_single_image image=”46044″ img_size=”article-image”]One of the bonuses – however slight – of the Fiat 500L MPW is that it’s lengthier than the 500L, and also comes with seven seats should you want it to. It has to be lengthier, not just for the extra seats, but also for a decent bit of legroom too. Okay space isn’t great, and you’d never get away with calling this vehicle roomy, but families will benefit from being able to sit their children at the back, with legroom for kids being good enough.

Boot capacity comes at 638-litres with five seats, which is pretty fantastic, and 168-litres with seven seats. Naturally, you can push down the back seats for more boot space. Seats are of the supportive kind, whilst suspension is soft and can deal with most of our bumpy roads. Just watch for potholes. Long-distance drives over smooth terrain will be enjoyable.

Facts and Figures

[vc_single_image image=”46045″ img_size=”article-image”]New Fiat 500L MPW deals start at £15,795 for the five seater, whilst seven seat Fiat 500L MPW deals start at £17,990, which pretty much puts prices at around £800 more than the 500L, whilst the seven seater is a good £1,5000 cheaper than its rival Ford Grand C-MAX. Prices are also on par with the Kia Carens. Engine choices are varied, with the pick of the bunch speed wise being the 1.6 120bhp Multijet diesel which can race to 62mph from rest in 11.1seconds. Fuel consumption figures for this engine stand at 61mpg, whilst efficiency is very good in general, with the base-level 1.3-litre unit emitting just 110g/km of CO2.

Final Thoughts

For an affordable compact seven-seater, the Fiat 500L MPW ticks a lot of boxes. It might not be capable of generating much power, but most families will forgive it that if it can offer them a smooth, comfortable ride over long distances whilst doing battle with tightly packed urban sprawls and winning. It can and it does.
