Fiat Fiorino Combi Review

The Fiat Fiorino Combi van is a compact one-box urban van that uses the same 1.3-litre MultiJet engine as the Citroen Nemo and the Peugeot Bipper. But since Fiat developed the engine, they’ve kept the most powerful one for themselves. The van comes with a good amount of load capacity, a zippy performance and excellent versatility. Let’s take a closer look at what it offers.

Practicality

The Fiat Fiorino Combi van is a compact van, but its size really disguises its spacious load bay. It comes with 2.5 cubic metres of load volume, but by folding the passenger seat, drivers can increase this space to 2.8 cubic metres. Max load length actually comes to 2,492mm, and because of a sliding loading door, as well as easy to open rear doors, the new Fiat Fiorino Combi van is hugely accommodating, with access as easy as you want. Buyers can get their hands on another sliding door as an optional extra for just £220, whilst payload is 660kg – much more than what you’d find in a rival Ford Fiesta. Indeed, the payload is competitive with the popular Renault Kangoo, which essentially means that this van is ideal for urban delivery.

Good Performer

There is little doubt that the Fiat Fiorino Combi van is not going to be your best friend on those longer journeys, but that’s not to say that this van can’t perform decently at high speeds. The ideal domain for this urban deliverer, though, is the middle of town. Its dimensions and sprightly engine allow the driver to actually enjoy their ride, whilst steering is quick and responsive. The five-speed manual transmission is smooth, whilst if buyers opt for the Adventure variant, they’ll be treated to a Traction+System that improves grip should you be required to take to your Fiat Fiorino Combi out in poorer conditions.

Interior

We don’t want to keep banging on about this car’s compact dimensions, but it really is amazing how the Italian brand have managed to get so much out of something this small. For example, taller drivers won’t need to be worried about a lack of head and legroom because they’re well catered for. The van is spacious inside, if a little minimal. Sure enough, interior quality is functional and rugged more than anything, with hard plastics in abundance. Still, a supportive driver’s seat is a prerequisite in a van like this, and Fiat delivers here. There is also a height-adjustable steering wheel to ensure the driver’s comfort is enhanced.

Facts and Figures

The Fiat Fiorino Combi van for sale price range starts out from around £9,875 and rises to about £13,000. Buyers will be able to get hold of a used Fiat Fiorino for a little less. Standard equipment across the range includes an adjustable steering wheel, a radio/CD player, driver’s seat armrest, and a height-adjustable driver’s seat. If you go for the SX trim, Fiat chuck in remote central locking and electric windows and mirrors, whilst the Adventure model comes with Traction+ESC electronic stability control and roof bars. The range-topping Techno variant treated buyers to air conditioning, Fiat’s Blue&Me infotainment system and a folding passenger seat – which is great for creating more space.

Final Thoughts

For its price, it’s hard to argue that the Fiat Fiorino does a lot wrong. It’s an economical urban van that pretty much does everything right, offering space, comfort for the driver, excellent steering and ride enjoyment through tight towns, and versatility. Despite its small size, it’s a van that thinks and acts big, providing buyers with a lot to shout about.
