The Coolest Cars From The Fast And The Furious Franchise

The new infographic from OSV looks at the coolest cars from the fast and the furious franchise.

There are numerous things needed to make a fast and furious film, high-octane stunts, several of your favourite fast and the furious characters, a villain or two and of course a copious supply of action.

But most of all the films need sleek, mean racing machines in a variety of colours and loaded with modifications.

The new infographic from OSV looks at 12 of the most iconic vehicles in fast and furious history, from the Dodge Charger to the Mitsubishi Eclipse, to the Honda S2000.

OSV’s picks have been listed below. Is your favourite in there?

Dodge Charger

The Dodge Charger has to be one of the most recognised vehicles from the franchise. Built by Dom and his Father, the car is famed for its incredible power at 900 hp and holding a record ¼ mile time at just nine seconds flat.

The original Charger is driven by Dom (although Brian has had the honour once) in The Fast and the Furious, Fast & Furious and Fast Five. After the original car was destroyed other versions can be seen driven by Dom in Furious 7.

Nissan Skyline GT-R R34

Brian drives this particular Skyline in 2 Fast 2 Furious. He uses the vehicle to participate in Tej Parker’s street race.

The 1999 Skyline had no other drivers and wound up confiscated by U.S Customs and is presumably impounded. Similar Skylines were featured in Fast & Furious. Before going undercover, Brian uses the FBI database to acquire a Bayside Blue 2002 Skyline R34 GT-R and a Pearl White Skyline R34 GT-R for a race.

Mitsubishi Eclipse GS

Possibly the most iconic car from the franchise thanks to its lime green body kit and neon underbody lighting. This car was driven by Brian and was used to evade police and rescue Dom in The Fast and The Furious.

The Eclipse had no other drivers or appearances after its obliteration by Johnny Tran.

Acura NSX

The black NSX driven by Dom’s sister Mia has red leather seats, rear-wheel drive and a 6-speed manual transmission.

Mia can be seen driving her NSX in Fast & Furious and Fast Five. A blue NSX may also be seen parked among three other modified cars during the funeral of Letty Ortiz in Fast & Furious.

Honda S2000

The vehicle of choice for The Fast and The Furious villain Johnny Tran and sometimes girlfriend of Tej Parker, Suki.

Johnny’s car appeared in The Fast and The Furious and had red snowflake graphics along with a VeilSide body kit. Suki’s bright pink model can be seen in 2 Fast 2 Furious.

Toyota Supra MK IV

After the destruction of the Eclipse in The Fast and the Furious Brian receives a rusty Toyota Supra MK IV from a junkyard. After its restoration, the car is driven by Brian and Mia to rescue Vince and is later abandoned by Dom (who was given the car by Brian in order to escape).

Slap Jack is also a fan of the Supra and drives one in 2 Fast 2 Furious. Another Supra is featured briefly in Fast Five and Brian drives another version in Furious 7.

Ford Mustang Fastback

Previously owned by Major Boswell, Sean and his friends restore the Mustang in Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift and used it to race against Takashi in a drift race.  After several close calls, Sean is able to win after Takashi’s car drives off the edge of the mountain.

A similar Mustang was driven by Roman Pearce in Fast and Furious 6.

Mazda RX-7

Driven by Han Seoul-Oh in Tokyo Drift, the car and driver meet a sticky end after a crash with Deckard Shaw. Sean Boswell also briefly drives this particular Mazda RX-7.

Several others also appear in the franchise. Two Mazda RX-7 FD’s are seen in the first film; a red one driven by Dominic Toretto, and a white one that Letty Ortiz raced against in Race Wars. Orange Julius also drove a Mazda RX-7 in 2 Fast 2 Furious.

Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VII

Inspired by the lime green eclipse, the Lancer was a key car for Brian in 2 Fast 2 Furious.  Brian gets hold of the Lancer after Roman claims the Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder GTS.

Later in the film, the car was driven by Tej Parker to lure the police away from Brian and Roman. Tej and girlfriend Suki were later arrested for evading the authorities.

Plymouth Road Runner

The Plymouth Road Runner appears briefly in Fast & Furious, driven by Letty Ortiz. The car makes a reappearance in Fast and Furious 6 in a flashback to how Letty died.

Another road runner is seen in The Fast and The Furious: Tokyo Drift and in Furious 7. Dom explains in the film that he won it from his friend Han a few years back.

Nissan GT-R R35

The 2012 Nissan GT-R R35 is a major car driven by Brian O’Conner in Furious 7. Like many other cars in the franchise this particular Nissan meets an unfortunate end when the UAV fired missiles at the car.

A clear favourite with Brian, numerous other Nissan GT-R R35’s have appeared in the franchise. All being driven by him.

Chevrolet Camaro Z28

Roman Pearce drives the 1967 Chevrolet Camaro in Furious 7 during the crew’s attempt to save Ramsey from Mose Jakande.

Numerous other Camaros also feature in the franchise. A Yenko Camaro SYC is driven by Korpi and Brian in 2 Fast 2 Furious, a Chevrolet Camaro RS-Z28 is driven by Dom in Fast & Furious and a Chevrolet Camaro SS is owned by Tej Parker in Fast and Furious 6.
