The new three-door Kia hatchback comes with exactly the same engines and specifications as the popular five-door model.
But it boasts a bold coupe-style profile and a price tag that gives you a £600 saving.
This means that now the Kia Rio is available to purchase for under £10,000 in the UK.
Generous, easy to understand trim levels
Just like the five-door Kia Rio, the brand new three-door version comes in four simple and high specification trim levels.
The entry level standard for the Kia Rio is 1, which still includes a rather impressive list of equipment.
For starters you get daytime running lights and body-coloured bumpers, door handles and door mirrors, which are not typical on entry level models in this class.
Kia continues to up the ante with front electric windows, an MP3-compatible radio, CD player with USB connectivity and Bluetooth on the petrol models.
If you want air conditioning without any other extras, an Upgrade to the Kia Rio 1 Air will get you just that.
The Kia Rio 2 comes with 16 inch alloys, stylish black cloth upholstery, front fog lights, a chrome radiator grille surround and electrically folded, heated adjustable door mirrors.
Plus leather trim on the steering wheel, gear stick and centre armrest adds a touch of class.
Going for the top of the range Kia Rio 3 gets you automatic air conditioning with de-fog, cruise control, rain sensing wipers, heated front seats, 17 inch alloys and a six speaker audio system.
Signature efficient Kia engines
You can choose from two petrol and two diesel engines on the Kia Rio.
The ultra efficient 1.1 CRDi diesel offers CO2 emission of under 100g/km and does at least 74.3 mpg.
The 1.4 diesel benefits from the EcoDynamics technologies being introduced throughout the Kia range, like Intelligent Stop & Go.
The two petrol engines for the Kia Rio still offer impressive performance and economies, with Kia being proud to boast that all engines in the range fall below the EU 2012 CO2 target of 130g/km.
Kia are very keen to point out that all the new three-door Rios have exactly the same safety specifications.
Each Kia Rio comes with electronic stability control, electronic brake-force distribution and emergency brake assist with emergency stop signalling.
Again, many of these features are only available as added extras in competing brands.
If an accident does happen, Kia have engineered the body shell so that the impact is absorbed in front and back crumple zones.
And all Kia Rio models come with six airbags too.
You can purchase, lease or finance (subject to status) a new Kia Rio three-door hatchback from just £9,995.
