The new 2014 Renault Twingo has been re-mastered with a very unique approach which is sure to send shockwaves through the city car ranks.

To begin with it succeeds in looking flashy where so many other city cars have failed on account of them generally attempting to be either ‘scaled down regular cars’ or ‘scaled up children’s toys’. But beneath that petite exterior, there are some interesting dynamics at work.

For starters, this rear wheel drive car has its engine located in the rear of the vehicle under the boot floor, which will allow for more interior space and a shorter bonnet while also allowing for a decent crush zone should an accident happen; along with the engine being designed to slide downwards rather than smash through the back and injuring passengers if this occurs.
