OSV Spy Cam: The mew Mercedes GLA concept has been revealed

How exciting- the Mercedes GLA Concept is here!

Mercedes-Benz GLA Showcar; 2013

At the end of the day, everybody loves a good concept- often the forebear of something that will go straight into production or something so mental that it will forever remain a one off for people to enjoy in all its mad glory. The Mercedes GLA Concept is probably one of the former, looking sharp enough for immediate production while retaining that wondrous quality that made people want to design it in the first place.

Mercedes debuted it’s new compact-premium class SUV, the Mercedes GLA yesterday a head of its appearance at the Shanghai Motor Show this weekend.

Though the Mercedes GLA concept is compact, don’t let that fool you, under its bonnet is a four-cylinder turbo charged petrol engine with 211 hp and a displacement of 1991 cc. The styling of the GLA combines dynamic styling with details that will clearly be for recreational use.

Dr Joachim Schmidt, Executive Vice President Mercedes-Benz Cars, Sales and Marketing comments “The Concept GLA marks a new approach for us in the compact SUV segment – this is a sporty and more coupé-like evolution of this category of vehicle. The Mercedes GLA concept is a compact SUV that combines its sporting spirit with the all-round qualities of a tough, leisure-time companion. ‘Escape the everyday’ is the message that this car conveys to its driver. It also makes clear the further potential of our compact vehicle architecture, which provides the basis for the A– and B-Class models that led the German market in their respective segments in the first quarter of 2013.”

It’s already got a rather mixed response from our fans on the facebook page, some arguing that it looks like the BMW X6 while others think its looks like a great car.

The Mercedes GLA Concept- what do you think?
