The Audi A1 was What Car? Car of the Year 2011 and now is making its way on to the used market in decent numbers.
Standard equipment includes air-conditioning, a CD player and electric windows. Mid-range Sport trim is our favourite because it adds Bluetooth and sports seats.
The A1’s ride is firm but it’s never uncomfortable. We’d avoid the S line trim as its ride is too harsh, but in our favourite Sport trim the balance is about right.
Adults will be very comfortable in the front seats but the rear seats are suitable for only short journeys because the seat backs are almost upright and headroom is limited by the sloping roof. Boot space is better than expected, though – it beats the Mini’s capacity with the rear seats up or down.
