The Vauxhall Corsa is a small hatchback/super mini that has been engineered and produced by the German manufacturer Opel since the 1980’s. (I bet you did not know that!)
There are many engines to choose from. The entry Vauxhall Corsa is the 1.0 litre petrol although it does struggle for pace. The Corsa 1.2 will offer a little more with its 80HP engine, however if you do need a little more pace, then consider the 1.6 150HP and the 1.6 192HP VXR model as well as diesel’s including the 1.3CDTI that will return over 70 MPG with its new start/stop technology.
Vauxhall UK sent us a Vauxhall Corsa 1.3 CDTi Ecoflex Stop Start. On first impressions its a lovely looking car, with great lines, and the build quality is also very good.
Inside you get so much more space compared to the old Corsa – you cannot say the Corsa is a “small” car anymore. As a driver you have plenty of space and the boot is more than adequate for an around town car, it also has all the toys you would expect from its sector, and you can add satellite navigation if you wish which fits nicely into the dashboard.
Drive wise it handles well and is very reassuring even on the open road. The 1.3 engine performs well and can give good acceleration if you need it.
Parkers say the following about the Corsa:
Excellent build quality, neat interior, roomy and comfortable cabin, safe handling, low emissions ecoFLEX model, lack of cabin stowage, lackluster petrol engines
The Corsa scored highly with N Cap ratings with a 5 star safety rating and it was also given 3 out of 4 for pedestrian protection so you can drive with peace of mind that you are sitting in a well-built solid car.
The Price projector below shows you how much your car will be worth after 3 years and 60,000 miles if you were selling to your dealer:
Depreciation
New price range | £10,255 – £18,900 |
1 year price range | £4,440 – £12,385 |
3 year price range | £2,969 – £8,319 |
So to sum up if you are looking for a reliable, well-built, economical car, which is great around town, this is worth considering. At the time of writing you can have a New Corsa for as little as £150 + VAT per month which is for sale on Contract Hire / Lease. They also represent great value on the used car market. All finance schemes are available and are worth considering.
