Aston Martin Vanquish Coupe Review

[vc_single_image image=”45876″ img_size=”article-image”]For the Aston Martin Vanquish, the brand have set about making a number of changes in order to make it more dynamic, swifter, and cleaner.

With more exterior colours to choose from than ever before, as well as brand new lightweight alloys and an eight-speed Touchtronic III gearbox, the Aston Martin is certainly new. With consumers suggesting that the brand have been sitting idly recently, preferring to tweak and refine what they’ve got as opposed to welcoming in modernity, no one can really accuse the new Aston Martin Vanquish as being a mere replica of what’s come before. Let’s take a closer look at what it offers.[vc_single_image image=”45877″ img_size=”article-image”]

Test Drive of the Aston Martin Vanquish

The Aston Martin Vanquish is undoubtedly reaping the rewards of £500 million worth of investment spread out over the next 5 years. The money has been well spent, with the introduction of the ZF’s 8HP automatic transmission that can boast to be almost 5% lighter than the previous gearbox. It also adds 130-millisecond shift speeds.

The engine has also been tweaked so that it’s now more powerful, with it able to generate 568bhp. Acceleration has never been better for an Aston Martin, with the vociferous 6.0-litre V12 delivering breathtaking figures of 62mph from rest in 3.8 seconds. For an Aston Martin, it’s a record breaker, with top speed being an incredible 201mph.

Adaptive damping has also benefited from the financial investment, with both front and rear dampers improved by 15% and 35% respectively. Suspension has been stiffened, whilst the steering has been modified, as has the brake booster. The brand claim to have made attempts to reduce noise, but it hasn’t really worked – nor would we want it to work. Part of what makes a Aston Martin Vanquish what it is, is the trademark roar.[vc_single_image image=”45878″ img_size=”article-image”]

Aston Martin Vanquish Interior

One of the areas where the brand have been resting idly is the interior. This isn’t just the new Aston Martin Vanquish, but seems to be the case with all new Aston Martin’s. It’s all a bit antiquated, and is in crying need of a makeover. And with the brand confirming that the noisy V12 engine will not be replaced, we hope that sometime soon the interior will get the financial attention it needs.

Still, this is a Aston Martin Vanquish, and when a car drives this well, it’s sometimes easy to forgive the somewhat basic interior design. The drivability of this car is sumptuous and unequalled, with the gearshift as adroit as Ronaldo in front of an open goal. There is a choice of either Normal, Track or Sport driving modes, with the engine roaring into life with the latter. Mechanical grip is excellent, whilst again the lack of electric steering is just what the doctor ordered. Well-weighted and easy to control, it’s as good a drive as anything out there.[vc_single_image image=”45879″ img_size=”article-image”]

Okay, so the interior still has a fair amount to live up to, but picture yourself at home in the evening. The sun is setting, work is over for the day, and you’ve just poured yourself a large drink. You open the blinds and gaze outside. And there it is, nestled comfortably on your drive: the new Aston Martin Vanquish. It looks incredible, and makes you tingle inside. Nothing can make you feel prouder.[vc_single_image image=”45880″ img_size=”article-image”]
