So what’s the lowdown with the 2014 Audi S4?
Are you in the market for a luxurious four-door family car with large boot space and decent fuel mileage but are unwilling to sacrifice sporty driving dynamics at the altar of practicality? Audi may have the ideal vehicle for you with its entertaining yet functional 2014 Audi S4.
The 2014 Audi S4 is essentially a sporty development on the A4 which was originally pinned as Audi’s answer to BMW’s 3 series. The 2014 Audi S4 builds on the solid foundations laid down by its predecessor to deliver excellent and well balanced sports performance complete with all the mod cons of a luxury saloon.
Compared to the A4, the 2014 Audi S4 is dressed to impress with upgrades meaning better breaks, firmer suspension, more grip, and larger wheels; not to mention a sportier look and a plethora of appealing standard features. However one of the biggest factors with the S4 is its speed. Audi’s approach to reach this is an interesting one. Instead of putting the engine on steroids with a V8, they have gone for a supercharged 3.0 litre V6 which gives great torque at even low speeds and brisk acceleration (0-62 in 5.0 secs) to the tune of 333bhp. It’s nothing to be laughed at.
The 2014 Audi S4 not only gives you high performance, but also manages to do it quietly. The engine runs as smooth as silk and although you can’t ‘feel’ the vibrations or the supercharger kicking into action, you can be assured that they’re fulfilling their duty on the road. This may turn a few people off who like to ride at the seat of their pants, but the lack of noise will certainly appeal to others.
In general the downsides to this car are very few, but they mainly revolve around the lack of noise and fact that the backseats are somewhat tight compared to other luxury cars. But all in all the S4 has a firm claim to being considered one of the ultimate all-rounder luxury cars out there.
